Your Five-week

Week One: From the Unconscious to the Page

Lesson One: Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Your first lesson and writing assignment will arrive by email. Through automatic writing, you will move beyond self-judgment and explore the memories, images, and emotions that could become the beginning of your story. After you submit your writing, you will receive personal written feedback.

Week Two: The Self as a Character

Lesson Two: Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Your second lesson and writing assignment will arrive by email. You will explore the difference between the writer, narrator, and character, consider whether your story works best in the first or third person, and begin developing your narrative voice. After you submit your assignment, you will receive personal written feedback.

Week Three: The Events That Shaped Us

Lesson Three: Tuesday, November 10, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Your third lesson and writing assignment will arrive by email. You will learn how to turn a personal memory into a story by identifying its central event, conflict, relationships, and transformation. After you submit your assignment, you will receive personal written feedback.

Week Four: Writing the Complete Story

Lesson Four: Tuesday, November 17, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Your fourth lesson will arrive by email. Using the material you developed in the previous weeks, you will write a complete story of approximately 1,000 words. After you submit it, you will receive comprehensive written feedback on its structure, voice, characterization, language, and ending.

Week Five: Final Meeting and Conversation

Live Zoom session: Tuesday, November 24, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

We will meet live on Zoom to discuss writing challenges, answer questions, and explore the next stage of revision. You may also share an excerpt from your story if you wish.

WORKSHOP DETAILS

By the end of the workshop, you will have transformed an unformed memory into a complete personal story—and developed a practical method for continuing to write stories from your life. Selected stories may be considered for publication in QAF Narrative with the authors’ permission.
